The Pennsylvania Great Dane Rescue is a Pittsburgh and Western PA based Great Dane rescue dedicated to the placement of Danes in a safe and caring home; matching carefully the needs of the Great Dane with the environment of the new owner. The volunteers in our Great Dane Rescue take our role very seriously and work closely with those who find it necessary to surrender their Great Danes for adoption.
For adoption of Great Danes, the PA Great Dane Rescue requires the completion of an application for adoption and a home visit by one of our volunteers. After adoption of a Dane the PA Great Dane Rescue continues to work very closely with those who adopted a Dane in order to make their adoption of a Great Dane a successful rescue and adoption. Pennsylvania Great Dane Rescue requires the spaying or neutering of all Great Danes adopted through our rescue. While our primary service is for the adoption of the Great Dane breed, Pennsylvania Great Dane Rescue works with other rescue organizations to help in the placement of other dogs. We are located in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area and focus on Great Danes in or near Allegheny County and Western Pa. We have adopted to other areas of Pennsylvania and adjoining states as well. See the Great Danes available for adoption on our Great Danes available for adoption page.
We established a Great Dane Rescue Blog to provide more information on the Great Danes we have available and the events that we attend. Please visit the PA Great Dane Rescue Blog. We also have an events page featuring a calendar of events to be attended by the Rescue.
What are you looking for in a Dane?
The PA Great Dane Rescue has dogs looking for homes range in age from puppies to elderly Great Danes. Many people have contacted us initially looking to adopt a Great Dane puppy and have found themselves extremely happy with an older Great Dane. The advantage of rescuing an adult Great Dane over a puppy is that older Danes tend to be more settled and usually have some prior training. They often have experience living with other dogs, cats, and kids. Great Dane puppies can be a lot of fun but an older Great Dane can come with training, a desire to play, and an immense amount of love.
If you are outside of the Pittsburgh and Western Pa area, please contact us to inquire about our outreach and referral services. Pennsylvania Great Dane Rescue has adopted all types of Danes, male and female, brindle, blue merle, fawn, harlequins, blacks, mantles, and merles. Instead of looking for ads for a Great Dane puppy for sale from a breeder in the Pittsburgh an Western PA area, please consider a Great Dane from our rescue or from another good Great Dane rescue.
